I was a primary school teacher for 14 years, teaching in schools across Hampshire. To say I adored being a teacher is a true understatement; I was passionate, dedicated and devoted to making sure each day was filled with imagination, fun and a touch of sparkle for every child I had the pleasure of teaching. My aim was to create memories that would carry them through to adulthood.
When I had my own little monkeys, I decided to hit the pause button on my teaching career and concentrate on just being ‘mum’. My husband’s DJ and Events business was going from strength-to-strength so it gave me the time focus on creating special memories with my own babies.
In 2020 Covid-19 hit the events industry hard and left many fearing how their businesses would survive after such a crash, my husband’s included. Thankfully events started to pick up again, but this left my husband Dean, struggling to fit in children’s discos, owing to the sheer number of weddings that had to be moved.
You can guess what was coming…So after two successful Zoom parties (one for a friend’s daughter and another for a past student), in June 2021 TibyKidz was born.
People always ask – “Why TibyKidz?” Tiby was my Daddy who grew his angel wings 20 years ago. He was a lively, full of life character whose enormous ambition matched his equally enormous larger than life personality. It was only natural for me to name my business after him. Afterall, he had a hand in moulding me into the diligent, creative and energetic person I am today!
To think TibyKidz started out as crazy suggestion in 2021 and here I am having hosted lots of incredible parties, provide the discos for David Lloyd Club Southampton, Jumpin Jax, Playshack, Marwell Hotel & lots of schools across Hampshire too!
Sometimes I have to pinch myself because I truly believe I have THE best job in the world. I get to be part of so many wonderful children’s childhood memories; how fab is that?
I sit here, excited about your child’s party that hasn’t even been booked in my diary yet. I hope this little extract has succeeded in highlighting just how much of my heart and soul goes into each and every party I am honoured to be a part of.
